FRAGMENTS OF A BIOGRAPHY FOR VERSES AND VOICE
1999 / 4'20"
- editing by Federico Pizzo
- with elisabetta sgarbi
Shot during Franco Battiato's soundcheck and concert in Taormina (Sicily), July 2000 as some sort of "authorized bootleg", the video was edited later using as soundtrack a song taken from Franco Battiato's cover album FLEURs. Franco Battiato, renowned Italian musician/composer, is seen through his own "stolen" gestures, hesitation, suspended looks. It all sums up to an incomplete yet true portrait/mosaic of the artist. Also featured is the Sicilian philosopher and writer Manlio Sgalambro, long time friend and collaborator of Franco Battiato. The title of the short is taken from a Sgalambro essay on Nietzsche.
